Gruinard Bay is a large, remote coastal embayment located in northwestern Ross and Cromarty, Scotland. The bay is approximately 5.5 miles long along its western shore and 4.5 miles long on its eastern shore, forming an L shape. It is situated 12 miles north of Poolewe and is in the former parish of Lochbroom. The bay overlooks the infamous Gruinard Island (the island is best known for its association with biological warfare testing during World War II, which rendered the island dangerous for all mammals until it was decontaminated in 1990), which is 0.68 miles (1 km) offshore, at the eastern side of the bay.
